Biography:

Sarang Gopalakrishnan is a multifaceted and very prolific physicist (as can be gauged from his Google Scholar profile). Central topics of Sarang’s recent research are:

– Understanding the dynamics of large-scale fluctuations in many-body dynamics using hydrodynamics (in particular, finding regimes where many-body systems produce non-gaussian fluctuations at all times)
– Learnability transitions in monitored systems: understanding the information content of local measurements in many-body systems, how much quantum information can be extracted from them, and how this is connected to quantum error correction

– Phases of open quantum systems: developing notions like adiabatic continuity for open systems and mixed states, to define mixed-state phases in a sharp way; understanding mixed-state transitions through concepts like strong-to-weak symmetry breaking; connecting these phenomena to spectral and eigenstate properties of Lindblad master equations

– Quantum-Optical Spin Glasses and Associative Memories
