Workshops & Events

The Catalonia Quantum Academy welcomes proposals to support events such as workshops or schools with a clear educational, outreach or community building goal aimed at undergraduate, master’s or PhD students.  

Such events may be co-located with existing or planned scientific conferences or workshops, with the aim of offering complementary educational activities or engagement of students in these events.  

Events should be hosted by and/or co-organized by a participating CQA institution. 

We invite proposals from researchers at participating CQA institutions.

Applications will be submitted via email to cqa@icfo.eu  

Each application should include: 

• Short outline the content of the event 

• The audience 

• The provisional venue 

• Provisional list of lecturers or speakers 

• Statement of support from the host institute 

A scientific committee nominated by the proposers will be responsible for the selection of professors and the design of the event. 

Applications will be evaluated by a selection committee appointed by the CQA Coordination Board, with a rolling evaluation at end of each month until all grants are filled. 

We will award up to €10.000 per grant. The award may be used for: 

• Travel and accommodation for visiting lecturers 

• Travel fellowships for students to attend the event 

• Logistical costs (room booking, catering, etc.) 

• Materials for dissemination and broadcast of the event (website, flyers, photography, recording) 

• Other reasonable costs identified in the proposal.  

The award is compatible with funding from other sources.  

The funds will be transferred to the corresponding CQA institution to execute the action(s) agreed. 

The funds cannot be used to cover overhead expenses either at the host institution and cannot be used to support activities run for profit.  

A nominal fee may be charged for researchers to attend such events to help cover travel, accommodation or catering costs. However, there should be no enrolment fee for students at the undergraduate or master’s level to participate in the educational activities.  

Where possible, we encourage organizers to negotiate free or subsidized access to attend conferences or workshops co-located with the activity to be organized.
