Short Course on hot topics in cold atomic gases: solitons and tight binding models in lattices

26 - 30 April 2025

Facultat de Física, Universitat de Barcelona

This short course offers a series of lectures on cold atomic gases, a powerful platform for studying fundamental quantum effects such as Bose-Einstein condensation, superfluidity, entanglement, and correlations.

Through optical lattices—laser-induced periodic potentials—participants will explore how these systems simulate solid-state physics, revealing key phenomena like quantum tunneling, Mott insulators, and topological states. The course will also cover matter-wave solitons, providing insights into quantum fluid dynamics and non-equilibrium physics. Designed for students and researchers, these lectures will provide a comprehensive introduction to this cutting-edge field in quantum science.

Audience: PhD students, PostDocs
